Schoolgirl, 16, arrested after student, 15, stabbed at South Australian high school

A 16-year-old schoolgirl has been arrested over the alleged stabbing of another girl at a South Australian high school on Thursday.

The 15-year-old Year 10 student suffered minor injuries to her stomach and arm and was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital in a stable condition.

Authorities said they were called to Trinity College North, in Evanston South just after 9am on Thursday after an alleged stabbing.

A statement from police read: "Police believe that the incident was not random and was a targeted attack."

Principal Nick Hately said, "Acts of violence are incredibly rare so this incident is very confronting for our community."

"Families of those involved and witnesses have been contacted by the school."

Mr Hately said students were being offered counselling and other support services.
