Cassie's family and fiancé visit accused drug smuggler in prison separately

Cassandra Sainsbury has been reunited with her loved ones in Bogota, five weeks after her Colombian prison nightmare began.

After more than a month behind bars isolated away from all family, the accused drug smuggler has finally been visited by her fiancé, and mother and sister – separately.

Scott Broadbridge arrived with a single red rose, an overnight bag and some food after being given permission to visit his partner inside El Buen Pastor women’s prison.

The South Australian pair spent just over an hour together before Broadbridge re-emerged, maintaining his silence as he left the prison.

Just moments later, her mother Lisa Evans and sister Khala Sainsbury arrived carrying two packed bags.

There has been growing tension between the young couple and her family in the handling of her delicate situation, that could see her spend 20 years in an overcrowded Colombian prison.

Despite longing for family interaction, there was growing speculation that Cassandra Sainsbury would turn her mother away from the prison after reportedly selling her story without her permission.

“They’re just going out and doing it on their own,” Ms Sainsbury previously told News Corp.

“It’s my story. They need to get permission from me to sell my story.”

Ms Sainsbury was stopped from flying out of the country when police allege to have found 5.8 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a series of discount headphones that she claims were presents for her upcoming bridal party.
