‘My legs are full of scars’: Salt Creek victims detail terrifying ordeals
The trial might be over but the nightmare is still a reality for Roman Heinze’s traumatised young Salt Creek victims.
They have described chilling memories, the lifelong physical scars and their determination to survive the horror inflicted by a sadistic predator.
"I carry the physical scars every day… my legs are full of scars," said one of his victims.
"It has been a year since you attacked me on the beach, but I remember every small detail.
"I felt panic… fear for myself that I might have to die when I didn't want to die yet.
"I'm always aware that something bad might happen,” the victim added.

The two young women, from Germany and Brazil, were on a trip of a lifetime.
"You could not take what Australia has meant to me," said the victim.
However, they had to fight for their lives on that day in February last year.
“I feel traumatised, I feel afraid… like I'm in constant danger,” the victim continued.
“You've destroyed my ability to have a normal life."
There was also a display of incredible inner strength from the woman Roman Heinze mowed down with his car: "I want you to know Roman, you could not defeat me, you could not break me."
"You could not make me a victim, because I am a survivor."
Both victims are back overseas but suppression orders still prevent them from being identified.
Heinze will be sentenced next week but has indicated he will appeal against his convictions for the Salt Creek crimes.
