Callous coward caught on camera dumping box of 18 kittens outside South Australia pet shop

Security vision captured a callous individual dumping a box stuffed with 18 kittens outside a pet shop north of Adelaide.

Some of the kittens – from three different litters – were only two weeks old.

Two have died, but the RSPCA are looking for homes for surviving 16 – and the man who ditched them in Two Wells.

The driver pulled up in a 4WD outside the Pet & Fodder store in the dead of night and abandoned his living cargo in the garden before driving off.

The storeowner found the box the next morning, taking to social media to call out the creep.

"Whoever dumped these beautiful babies... you are scum," they wrote.

The RSPCA is looking for the man who it says did not have to resort to such a cowardly act.

"In our mind there's no excuse for dumping an animal in a public area, or any area for that matter," spokeswoman Andrea Lewis told 7 News.

"RSPCA or animal welfare league will take animals from the public."

Ms Lewis said the RSPCA was looking to find homes soon for the kittens soon before more abandoned animals fill shelters.

"Sadly during the warmer months, RSPCA shelters are inundated with around 100 abandoned cats and kittens every week," she said.

Ms Lewis implored owners to be responsible and de-sex their animals to avoid more unwanted animals filling shelters – all of which are looking for new families to love and welcome them.

"We've got over 700 cats and kittens in foster and at shelters around the state at the moment," she said.
