Drugs found bound for Stereosonic music festival

Some of the drugs believed to be bound for Stereosonic.

South Australian police have uncovered more than 3000 ecstasy pills believed to be destined for sale at the Stereosonic festival on Saturday.

Officers from Operation Mantle conducted a series of raids yesterday and at one house, located more than 2500 ecstasy pills, a prohibited weapon and prescription steroids.

They also seized cash suspected to be unlawfully obtained, ice pipes and a small quantity of cannabis.

A 22-year-old Royal Park man was arrested over the find.

Earlier this month, police also arrested a 23-year-old man after a raid at Greenwith uncovered more than 700 tablets and more than $20,000 cash.

Two other men have been reported.

Chief Inspector John Gerlach from SA Police said officers will be out in force detecting drug offences at Stereosonic in Bonython Park.

“Rather than just running drug dog detection operations at the event as has historically occurred, we are going to be proactive on this occasion and get the drugs before they get to the event,” he said.
