Russia captures more territory near strategic Avdiivka, occupying Stepove and Severne – DeepState

Russian occupation forces seized the villages of Stepove and Severne, located near Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, the DeepState analytical portal reported late on Feb. 26.

"The enemy advanced near Orlivka, Berdychiv, and Tonenke. The adversary has occupied Stepove and Severne," DeepState said in a Telegram post.

Analysts also published an updated map of the fighting.

There is currently no official confirmation of this information from the military command.

The Tavria Operational and Strategic Troop Grouping stated on Feb. 26 that the Defense Forces had left the village of Lastochkyne to organize defense and prevent further advancement of the Russian troops.

DeepState analysts reported on Feb. 24 that the Russian forces had captured Lastochkyne in Donetsk Oblast and were increasing pressure on Severne and Orlivka.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced overnight on Feb. 17 that the Defense Forces had withdrawn from Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, after four months of intense fighting and regular attacks by the Russian troops. This decision was made to avoid encirclement and to preserve the lives and health of the military.

Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesman for the Tavria troop grouping, assured that the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka was as successful as the circumstances allowed.

The commander of the Tavria grouping, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, said that Ukraine's defenders had consolidated their positions on new defense lines in the Avdiivka sector.
