Richard Madeley asks British-Palestinian MP if her or her family knew about Hamas attack before it happened

Richard Madeley has sparked backlash after he asked a British-Palestinian MP if she or her family “had any indication” of Hamas’s attack on Israel before it unfolded.

Layla Moran, Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday 17 October to discuss the ongoing conflict, explaining that she has family stranded in a church in Gaza City.

“With your family connections in Gaza, did you have any indication of what was going to happen?” Madeley asked, during the discussion.

“Any word on the street?”

Shortly after the discussion aired, a number of viewers took to social media website X to criticise Madeley’s question.

“Absolutely insane behaviour,” one person said.

“I’m genuinely disgusted by this,” another wrote.
