What would you do? Drivers confused by spray-painted roundabout

A number of residents in northern NSW have been left confused by a spray-painted roundabout which has appeared in the suburbs.

A Lismore resident wrote on Facebook it appeared someone “thought it would be a laugh” to paint a new roundabout on the corner of two streets.

However, people appear to be treating it as a legitimate roundabout.

“Not going to lie I may have went around it yesterday,” one man wrote.

Another woman added if it isn’t legitimate it’s still “pretty symmetrical”.

“I’m impressed,” she wrote.

Another man jokingly added he hopes no one “paints” traffic lights nearby .

“That would really confuse the situation,” he wrote.

Others were perplexed as to whether council actually painted it.

“What an insult, councillors must think Lismore residents are brain dead,” one man wrote.

However, Lismore City Council has told Yahoo News Australia the roundabout was “illegally painted” and will be removed.

Roundabouts can be a source of confusion and debate as illustrated earlier this week.

Dashcam of a crash at a roundabout exit in Sydney sparked arguments as to who was in the wrong but it turns out there was a simple explanation.
