What's sssss-o funny? Snake catcher's call out is not all as it seems

A woman on Queensland's Sunshine Coast got quite the fright when she spotted a long curvy figure apparently lurking in her garden.

The Sippy Downs homeowner was concerned enough about the seemingly menacing shape that she called in a snake catcher.

Stuart McKenzie from The Snake Catcher 24/7 - Sunshine Coast wrote on Facebook: "I sent one of my guys over to a ladies home in Sippy Downs for a snake that was hanging out on the lawn in her backyard"

"She seemed quite stressed over the phone and I got someone there asap."

Stuart McKenzie told Yahoo7 News a catcher responded in about 10 to 15 minutes, which he said was a pretty standard response considering a lot of people get nervous when they think they'e spotted a snake.

An image of the foreign figure in the yard was uploaded to the social media site, along with a close up look at what had caused all the fuss.

It was in fact a rubber tie down strap.

Fortunately the home owner and the snake catcher found the case of mistaken identity funny.

"She did the right thing not knowing what it was," Mr McKenzie told Yahoo7 News.

Mr McKenzie does not recommend people go up close to something that looks like a snake.

He suggested to observe the suspected reptile from a safe distance until a snake catcher can come and assess the situation.
