Queensland dad's haunting message before alleged murder suicide with 4-year-old son

A Far North Queensland man who was found dead next to his son in a suspected murder-suicide wrote a haunting message in the weeks prior.

Police discovered the man, 46, and boy, 4, at the home in Rossville, north of Cairns, shortly before 10am on Friday.

A crime scene has been declared with specialist police at the site.

The man and boy have been identified by The Cairns Post as Troy Harvey and his son Koah.

On August 9, Mr Harvey wrote on Facebook he had a “full nervous breakdown” but was starting up a boxercise class again.

“I am so sorry to all the people I have hurt or let down over the years due to excessive drug and alcohol abuse,” he wrote.

“I am seeking help, so come on down get fit, let's support those with mental health issues, past traumas or anything else that seems to pull us down and feel like nowhere to run to.”

‘I’m sorry I couldn’t save you’

Koah’s mother Natsuko Kurihara posted a heart-wrenching message on Facebook on Saturday morning describing her heartbreak over her little boy’s death.

“I’m in pain life is not fair.

“Let the people you love know you love them as they can be taken from you,” she wrote.

“I'm so sorry Koah l couldn't save you. Love you forever.”

“It's so sudden that there are no words,” she wrote.

“Sad and regrettable. No words to describe how I feel.”

Acting Detective Inspector Jason Smith told The Post eight detectives have been dispatched to Cairns to investigate.

He added that investigators are considering “all possibilities”.

Police are yet to confirm how the father and young boy died.

News of their tragic deaths has left members of the Rossville community devastated.

The publican of Rossville's Lion's Den Hotel Darryl Paradise told the ABC many found it “hard to believe”.

“We don't expect to see this sort of thing happening in the neighbourhood,” he said.

“It is a very small community, everybody knows everybody and everybody speaks to everybody.”
