Quadriplegic's special mobile phone stolen by heartless thief
A quadriplegic woman was left in tears after a thief broke into her house in Sydney and stole her specially adapted mobile phone that left her without any communication.
Rhonda Samios’s mobile phone has been voice activated especially for her.
She said: “I need that phone. I need it for emergencies.”
“I was crying."
She said: "There was nothing I could do because I had no communication until my carer came the next morning.”
Police accused a 17-year-old of stealing the phone. He has since been freed on bail.
Rhonda Samios approached the accused teenager outside court and asked him for her phone back. He didn’t reply.
The teenager told the court he didn't steal the phone, despite evidence that he tried to sell a phone exactly like Rhonda's model this week.
On Friday afternoon, Rhonda was brought to tears after the phone company turned up to give her a replacement.
The teenager will face court again in November.
