School failed to notify parents of child threatened with scissors

A Gold Coast school has admitted it didn’t follow its bullying policy after a little boy had scissors held to his throat.

The parents of the six-year-old boy said Labrador State School didn’t contact them after the incident last month and only found out after he told them.

The school’s principal, Jeff Jones, told 7 News that staff had tried to contact several people on the day of the incident, but “that particular parent was missed”.

The boy's mother said he has since been bullied two more times but Labrador State School insists those incidents were better handled.
