'It just went nuts': Tradie lands massive catch in front of amazed tourists

A Queensland plumber has given a bus full of tourists an Australia Day they’ll never forget after he pulled in a massive three-metre shovelnose shark on a local beach.

Jordan Chalustowski and his friends had been frolicking around Moreton Island on Friday to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday when he decided to throw in a line.

As his friends relaxed on the beach, the 25-year-old jumped in his kayak to drop some bait out before paddling back to shore.

“I was having a XXXX Gold, chatting to a mate and the line just went bang,” Jordan told Yahoo7 News.

“The rod went straight into the water so I ran in after it and then it just went nuts.”

Unaware what was putting up such a fight on the end of the line, the Wellington Point resident began what would be a pain-staking 45-minute battle.

“My arms were buggered, they were tight, I couldn’t tighten up my reel, so it was just pulling it the entire time,” he added.

Any thought of giving up the fight quickly dissipated when a bus full of tourists pulled up and joined in the viewing party.

A crowd of 30 people were there to watch the moment Jordan landed the monster shovel nose shark before his mate dragged it from the water.

“They were being told to get back on the bus but they were refusing to go, they wanted to see what it was,” Jordan said.

Jordan, who runs wildlife page Enter The Wild with his mates, snapped a few photos of his prized catch for bragging rights before safely releasing the shark back into the ocean.
