Huge python joins Queensland family at the dinner table

A Sunshine Coast family's meal has been interrupted by an unwelcome guest who decided to join them at the dinner table.

The large python had remained unnoticed for some time as it made itself at home on Tuesday, coiling up in a child's booster seat.

Midway through dinner the Beerwah mother, who had been sitting with her two children, caught a glimpse of something unfamiliar out of the corner of her eye, before realising that they had company.

"The family jumped up from the table, left their meals and ran outside," Stuart McKenzie of The Snake Catcher 24/7 - Sunshine Coast wrote on Facebook.

Mr McKenzie was then called to remove the scaly visitor, which he believed was about 2.4 metres long.

The snake catcher said the python would have slithered inside the home during the day as the doors had been left open to let the breeze in.

Mr McKenzie believes the snake may have been curled up comfortably for a fair while as the family had not seen it when they were making dinner and moving about that part of the home.

"Pretty crazy that this big snake had gone unnoticed for so long," he wrote on Facebook.

The snake catcher said he recommends installing fly screens or keeping windows shut as snakes are currently on the move.

And if you do come across an unwelcome guest, Mr McKenzie told Yahoo7, "Keep your distance and give it the respect it deserves."

The unwelcome visitor was relocated in nearby bushland.
