Would you buy this chicken? Woolies customer spots glaring concern

A Woolworths customer has criticised a Brisbane store for selling raw chicken breasts in broken plastic packaging.

Justin Heyes uploaded a photo he took at the Indooroopilly store on Thursday of the chicken in its plastic tray wrapped in cling film.

"Chicken in broken packaging that is subject to the elements, wrapped in cellophane for sale! Get it together guys," he wrote.

But some have told the Brisbane man the chicken would be fine after a "quick rinse under the tap."

The packet of four chicken breasts had been reduced from $12.83 to $11.76.

A Woolworths spokesperson responded to Mr Heyes' post, apologising for the state of the chicken.

"We're sorry to see the chicken in this state, Justin. Could you let us know the store details for inspection? Thanks," the post read.

Mr Heyes also posted a close-up of the package, showing a hole towards the edge of the original plastic covering under the cling wrap.
