'Tragic accident': Brisbane man runs over his wife and son in driveway

A woman and a teenage boy have been critically injured after being run over by a reversing car on a Brisbane driveway.

Police say the mother and son were hit when their husband and father accidentally stepped on the wrong pedal.

The teenaged boy was trapped under the vehicle, forcing rescuers to cut him free before he could be taken for treatment.

Officers have described the event as a "tragic accident".


Investigators say they believe the incident to be an accident involving one family, and that it is not linked to any domestic dispute or incident.

The pair are reportedly fighting for their lives after they were struck on Vanda Street at Woollangabba at about 6.30pm on Tuesday.

The 50-year-old woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital and 14-year-old boy was taken to the Lady Cilento Hospital with critical injuries.
