Prince Harry moved to tears as Diana's favourite song plays at wedding

An emotional Prince Harry has appeared to wipe away tears as his mother’s favourite hymn played at his wedding to Meghan Markle.

The couple reportedly chose Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer as one of their wedding songs for the service at St George’s Chapel on Saturday. It was the same song sung at the funeral service of Princess Diana at her funeral service at Westminster Abbey more than 20 years ago.

Harry told ITV documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, last year he’s only cried once since his mother’s funeral.

He said it was when his mother’s body was brought onto the island at Althorp Park in Northamptonshire at her family’s estate, where she is buried.

“The first time I cried was at the funeral on the island and probably only once since then,” Harry said.

“So, there’s a lot of grief to get out there.”

He added as a 12-year-old at her time of death he found it unusual people who had never met Princess Diana were showing more emotion than he was.

“I was so young, I grew up thinking not having a mum was normal. Thinking like that was pointless because it’s not going to bring her back,” he said.

“My way of dealing with it was to ignore it, not deal with it. The 10 years I was in the Army, I just dug my head in the sand and it was just white noise.”
