Premier’s dad suffers heart attack
The father of NSW Premier Chris Minns has been rushed to hospital after suffering a severe heart attack.
John Minns was rushed to St George Hospital in Sydney’s south and is now in an induced coma, Ben Fordham reported on 2GB.
Fordham revealed the news to listeners after the premier pulled out of a scheduled interview on Monday morning.
It is understood the premier’s mother Cara provided first aid before emergency services arrived to rush him to hospital.
In a statement seen by the Daily Telegraph, the Premier’s office said John’s family were by his side and were thankful for the care from health workers and doctors.
Mr Minns is understood to be close with his father, a veteran NSW public school teacher, having mentioned him in multiple speeches.
In August 2022, Mr Minns’ posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, that “For people like my Dad, teaching was more than just a job, it was a vocation”.
