Doctors attempted to save the infant, but after a successful emergency delivery, he later died in intensive care.

The woman's family have confirmed to WLBT the baby was named Everett.

A fundraiser has been set up to help pay for Ms Knight Tatum and baby Everett's funeral expenses.

At the time of writing, it had raised just over US$10,000.

Family members who created the fundraiser said the 26-year-old was excited about becoming a mum.

"She was so excited about becoming a mother and it was just a mere 4 months away. Her family and friends will definitely miss her and what could have been."

Ms Knight Tatum's husband, 25-year-old Hunter James Tatum, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

A motive has not yet been provided for the crime and the police are investigating the incident.
