Powerball winner reveals the change he made to score $10 million: 'I'm speechless!'

A NSW man was literally lost for words after discovering he had won $10 million in Thursday night’s Powerball.

The lucky father held one of two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1348, drawn Thursday, March 17 – each winner took home $10,018,944.20.

Speaking over the phone with a lottery official from The Lott on Friday, the Moree resident confessed he had just walked through the door after a long day at work.

After The Lott confirmed the NSW man’s life-changing windfall, the shocked winner was stunned into silence.

“I’m speechless!” he cried.

The man explained that he recently swapped out his Lotto numbers, after playing the same numbers for many years.

“I’ve only been using these numbers for a few weeks. I swapped them not too long ago to include special family dates,” he said.

He confessed that when he first answered the phone call from The Lott, he assumed he'd won a small prize.

“When you started speaking, I thought, ‘Oh maybe I’ve won $3,000’, and I would have been happy with that, but $10 million! My goodness, that’s a lot of money,” he said.

'No one ever wins online' laughs Powerball winner

“My wife actually only said it to me last week, ‘I don’t know why you play that online, no one ever wins online’,” laughed the winning man.

“Well, I guess that’s not quite right now!”

When asked how he planned to spend his newfound fortune, the humble winner explained that he and his wife would take it slowly – starting with their favourite dinner before returning to work.

“We’ll have some sushi for dinner and just sit on this for a while,” he said.

The multi-millionaires said that the win was “remarkable” as they are “just average working people,” but they still want to make wise decisions for themselves and their family.

“So, in that sense, I don’t see any reason to stop working yet,” he said.

“This is so hard to even comprehend, thank you so much, this is going to change our lives.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1348 were 23, 19, 2, 17, 7, 25, 13, while the all-important Powerball number was 13.
