The Powerball numbers most likely to win you $80 million

With the second biggest jackpot in Powerball’s 23-year history, millions of Australians will buy a ticket in the hope of scooping the gargantuan $80million jackpot on Thursday.

And while many stick to the same numbers week in week out, the Lott has revealed the most common numbers drawn for those unsure of what to go for.

Over the last eight months, the most drawn number from the main barrel, where seven balls are drawn from 35, has been 32, having appeared 13 times.

Close behind is the number 29, which has been drawn 12 times.

Those who reckon its time for the ‘cold’ numbers to be pulled out should take note of the following six numbers which have only appeared four times each from the main barrel in eight months.

Numbers 1, 10, 11, 12, 21 and 27 have been the least drawn.

When it comes to the Powerball, where one ball is drawn from 20, the numbers 3, 13 and 19 have all been drawn four times each – the joint highest.

Numbers yet to be drawn in the last eight months have been 1, 2, 4 and 18.

With an enticing prize on offer, the Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said he expected up to one-in-three Australian adults to have an entry in this Thursday’s draw.

He said history could also be made on Thursday night if one entry took home the entire $80 million Powerball prize.

“The current Australian record for the biggest division one win by a single entry was a massive $70 million Powerball prize won by a Hervey Bay couple in 2016,” he said.

“With a multi-million dollar Powerball prize of this scale, it’s fair to say you could well and truly play by your own rules.”

January has a track record of big Powerball jackpot wins after a private syndicate of 21 Queensland Government workers shared a $55 million Powerball prize in 2017, while last year a mystery Melbourne winner also snared $55 million.

Powerball draw 1182 closes at 7.30pm AEST on January 10.

For those panicking about what numbers to go for, it appears there is no need to worry as two thirds of 2018’s Powerball division one winners had their numbers randomly generated by a lottery terminal.
