The body of a man in his 20s was found in Montreal's Rivière-des-Prairies after his car ended up in the water last Sunday.

Officers with the Montreal police's nautical unit found the man Wednesday evening on the shoreline of the Parc-nature de l'Île-de-la-Visitation in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.

Police said they received a 911 call last Sunday at about 4:50 a.m. about a vehicle that drove off the end of St-Hubert Street, across a narrow park and into the river.

The vehicle was completely submerged but was recovered later that day and sent for analysis. The driver was unaccounted for until Wednesday.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest any criminal elements involved in the man's death.

The investigation is ongoing.
