Ottawa police are asking for the public's help finding an Alberta man wanted in a homicide investigation.

On Friday afternoon, the Ottawa Police Service said it was investigating a Jan. 29 shooting in the 100 block of Champagne Avenue South near Little Italy as a homicide.

The victim, who died of his injuries in hospital on Thursday, was identified as Jama Roble, 33.

Later on Friday, police said they were looking for 29-year-old Gibriil Bakal, and that the Edmonton man was wanted for first-degree murder.

Police say Bakal is about six feet one inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds.

Officers are asking anyone with information on Bakal's location to call Ottawa police or Crime Stoppers.
