Police block highway to let baby snake cross road

A baby snake in a precarious situation has been given a helping hand to complete its dangerous escapade across a busy road carefree.

Traffic officers attended the miniature reptile along the Pacific Highway at Glenugie on NSW’s north coast as it struggled to navigate its way across several lanes on Saturday.

Officers closed off the stretch of highway, allowing the snake to cross the road with ease.

“No traffic was affected during this time,” Traffic and Highway Patrol Command said on Facebook.

Dozens took to the post to thank officers for their good deed, while others couldn’t resist the opportunity for a joke.

If you guys give the snake a job it can be ‘a civil serpant’,” one user pointed out.
