Police in Amsterdam give all-clear after Rokin metro station evacuation

Police in Amsterdam have given the all-clear after evacuating a metro station in the centre of the city.

Explosive experts were sent to Rokin station to investigate.

Police from the Dutch capital posted about the cordon on social media website X, describing the reason for the investigation as a "suspicious situation".

The force added: "Rokin metro station has just been evacuated and the area around the station cordoned off."

Police added later: "After investigations by explosives experts, the station was just given the all-clear."

They gave no further details about the evacuation.

The station is in the very centre of the city, close to the Dam square and the main shopping street.

It follows a hostage situation which ended with an arrest in the Netherlands on Saturday.
