'Please be aware': Mum's warning over toddler's pool fence stunt

A mother has shared a chilling video revealing how quickly and easily a Perth toddler scales a backyard pool fence.

The footage posted to Facebook last week shows a little boy using a trampoline ladder in attempt to climb over an outdoor pool’s safety fence.

The boy, identified as three-year-old Jordan, can be seen removing the trampoline ladder and dragging it across the yard towards the pool fence, while a little girl watches on.

Jordan props the ladder up against the fence and in reaches the top in just seconds before the clip cuts out.

Sharing the video last week, which has been viewed more than 10,000 times, Bronwyn Robertson wrote that the incident “gave us a fright”.

The mother described the resourceful attempt as “something we didn’t see coming”.

“Please be aware of things lying around including the ladder off the trampoline,” she warned other parents.

Watching the clip frightened many parents about how quickly children can land themselves into trouble around pools.

Omg makes you feel sick,” one woman wrote.

There were 29 drowning deaths in children aged 0-4 years at aquatic locations across Australia in 12 months to June 30 last year, according to a Royal Life Saving Australia report.

Almost half (45 per cent) of those fatalities occurred in swimming pools, the report revealed.
