A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was struck by a car in Melbourne’s southeast.

The 51-year-old was attempting to cross the road on Stud Rd near the Lakeside Boulevard intersection in Rowville on Monday when he was hit by a vehicle.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 5.30pm. The man was taken to hospital with what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.

The 30-year-old man driving the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigations.

The major collision unit continues to look into the circumstances surrounding the collision and has made a public appeal for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
