Sydney partygoer slashed with machete
A man has been arrested after an alleged machete attack at a house party in Sydney’s west on Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to Brierley Crescent in Plumpton about 11.15pm, following reports of violence breaking out.
NSW Police said officers found a 25-year-old man with serious “facial injuries”. Witnesses reporting he had been slashed across the face with a machete.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Westmead Hospital.
29-year-old man Fali Vaegaau, who was not known to the alleged victim, was arrested a “short time later” in Hebersham — a neighbouring suburb to Plumpton.
He was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was refused bail after appearing at Parramatta Local Court via audio visual link on Sunday.
Mr Vaegaau will next appear at Mount Druitt Local Court for a bail review on Monday.
The alleged victim remains in a serious but stable condition.
