Parents’ horror after alleged kidnapping
Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment a child was allegedly snatched from a Queensland skate park before his parents chased down and confronted the armed group.
The 10-year-old boy was at Adventure Park in Woodridge when he was allegedly forced into a silver Jeep by two armed men and a woman shortly after 5pm on Friday.
The vehicle sped off before the parents cornered and confronted the alleged kidnappers at the corner of Ormesby St and Kolonga St in Woodridge just minutes away.
In CCTV video obtained by Nine, the child’s mother can be heard screaming “they kidnapped my son” and “that’s my son” as a scuffle breaks out with the group.
The three occupants, allegedly armed with machetes, can be seen jostling with the two parents before the boy’s 35-year-old father is knocked unconscious.
The boy’s mother’s leg was also run over in the allege incident, with the 10-year-old eventually retrieved from the back seat before the Jeep sped off again.
In a statement, police alleged the vehicle was later intercepted by police just before 7pm in the vicinity of Ewing street and the three occupants arrested.
Two 27 and 22-year-old men and a 29-year-old woman have since been charged with one count of kidnapping and assault occasioning bodily harm.
They were remanded into custody by Queensland police and are expected to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 16.
Police allege the incident was the result of the child throwing a rock at the car, shortly before he was allegedly kidnapped.
“Obviously really scary for a child to be involved in that type of incident,” Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Chris Stream said.
“As you would appreciate also very scary for parents involved, having a child allegedly abducted.”
