Panic after masked man 'sprays unknown substance' at bank

A man has allegedly sprayed staff at a Melbourne bank with an unknown substance in a failed robbery.

Police say the man entered the bank in Young Street, Frankston, just before 10.30am on Tuesday and sprayed staff with the substance before demanding money.

He was arrested at the bank shortly after and is being interviewed by police while staff have been treated and are not believed to have any serious injuries.

In a statement, police said the man is assisting police with their enquiries.
