Palestinian President's spokesperson calls new Israeli strikes on Rafah a massacre

Smoke rises following Israeli strikes during an Israeli military operation in Rafah

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Palestinian president's spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, described new Israeli strikes on Rafah on Tuesday as a massacre, and called for the implementation of a World Court decision ordering Israel to halt its offensive on the city.

Israel has kept up its offensive despite a ruling by the top U.N. court on Friday ordering it to stop, saying the court's ruling grants it some scope for military action in Rafah. The court also reiterated calls for the immediate and unconditional release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.
