'Blatant cheating'? Cricket world erupts over catch controversy

Pakistan star Hasan Ali has created controversy in the UK after footage emerged of the bowler turning an apparent dropped catch into a caught-and-bowled celebration.

The tourists took on Kent in a 50-over match over the weekend ahead of five ODIs against England next month.

Pakistan romped to 7-358 behind No.7 batsman Imad Wasim's 117 runs off just 78 balls.

Kent started slowly in response, losing two wickets for one run and then falling to 3-44 before Ollie Robinson and Alex Blake combined for a 132-run stand.

Blake looked set for a century after smacking six sixes and six more fours in his 48-ball stint at the crease but his innings was brought to an end on 89.

However, his dismissal was shrouded in doubt.

Edging the ball high into the sky, Blake jogged halfway down the pitch and watched the ball float into Hasan's hands.

But as he passed the bowler the ball fell to the ground. Was it actually dropped?

Hasan had reached towards the falling cherry with one hand and, in one motion, threw himself back up in celebration.

Robinson at the striker's end pointed down the pitch as if to argue the case but the wicket stood.

Cries of 'he dropped it!' and 'dropped!' came from the crowd, while Hasan waved Blake’s own appeals away.

The wicket stood and Pakistan went on to win by 100 runs.
