Police are investigating after two vehicles were set on fire in Vaughan, a little more than a month after another suspected case of vehicle arson.

York Regional Police were called to a home last Friday near Major Mackenzie Drive W. and Melville Avenue at approximately 3 a.m., they said in a news release Tuesday.

They arrived to find two vehicles, a Mercedes sprinter van and a black Mazda CX5, engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, but police said neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution due to the size of the fire.

On Tuesday, police released video footage of two suspects getting out of a dark-coloured SUV wearing dark clothing and carrying a jerry can.

The alleged arsons come roughly a month after a similar incident.

On Feb. 22, police responded to another pair of vehicles fires in Vaughan, this time near a home on Ironside Drive. Officers believe the fires were "intentionally set."

Police said they don't believe the two incidents are related, but ask anyone with information to contact investigators or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
