Owner fights back against knife-wielding thugs who stabbed him before carjacking attempt

This is the moment a vehicle owner bravely fought back against knife-wielding thugs after being stabbed in a terrifying carjacking attempt on his doorstep.

Ryan Walsh, 24, was attacked from behind by masked thieves who pulled up outside his property in Coventry, England, on a moped on Sunday local time.

He was walking to his front door when one of the crooks approached him with a blade and demanded the keys to his black Fiat 500 hatchback.

But Ryan refused to let the robber get away with his vehicle without a fight and can be seen in dramatic grappling with his attacker.

Eventually have-a-go-hero neighbours rush to help before the pair flee from the scene on Norman Place Road, in Coventry, empty-handed.

Ryan suffered stab wounds to his arm, shoulder and waist during his terrifying ordeal and is now recovering at home after receiving hospital treatment.

West Midlands Police has launched an investigation to find the thugs while Ryan’s sister Claire Patricia is offering £5,000 for information leading to their capture.

She posted on Facebook: “Probably sat there thinking you’ve got away with it but just know this: YOU will be found and I hope you’re BOTH looking over you shoulder for the rest of your miserable lives!!”

“I love you Ryan Walsh we all do!!”

Ryan, who also shared the footage online, added: “Thank everyone for all the lovely messages I’ve received and the neighbourhood and people that helped me”.

“On the mend and having and on recovery. Be careful everyone, these people have not remorse and aren’t even worth your energy.”

CCTV footage from a neighbouring property shows Ryan wrestling with his attacker as he tries to get into the vehicle – even hitting him with his water bottle.

Ryan can be seen kicking and dragging the thug from the car, before they grapple on the ground causing the crook to drop his knife.

His accomplice then picks up the blade and approaches Ryan as he is on the floor.

But at that moment the driver of a passing blue Subaru stop and neighbours come to his aid and the pair flee on the moped as the Good Samaritans give chase.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A man in his 20s was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by two offenders on a moped”.

“He suffered an arm injury, which is not believed to be serious. The keys to the car were taken but the offenders fled without it.”
