Disgust after Osama bin Laden action figure found in children's toy store

A shopper has shared a photo of a controversial children's doll currently on sale in Russia with social media users claiming it shows the feared terror boss Osama bin Laden “in all his glory”.

The divisive action figure was reportedly spotted in a toy shop in the Russian city of Stavropool.

The toy which reportedly retails for the equivalent of about $A30 was spotted by a shopper who visited the unnamed store with his child.

The action figure depicts the slain al-Qaeda leader with a mobile phone in his top pocket and a mini-assault rifle.

Trolls on a VKontakte group, which is a blatant Russian rip off of Facebook, where the photo emerged, joked that a Boeing jet can be purchased separately.

One social media user called Nikolay Pozdnyakov commented: “Why do they not write anywhere what kind of store this is? I want to know where I will never buy toys for my child again.”

Funnily enough, it’s not the first time the terror leader has been immortalised in toy form. The last time it was thanks to the CIA which called on toymaker Donald Levine to produce a terrifying action figure with the aim to demonise the leader.

The toy was made with a special heat-dissolving material so that bin Laden's ‘skin’ would peel off and reveal a satanic devil hiding underneath. The CIA even had a few prototypes made up, but now insists it never moved ahead with the idea, the Washington Post reported in 2014.

Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda organisation claimed responsibility for the September 11 terror attack that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Osama bin Laden was shot dead by US forces in 2011 in a dramatic assassination mission in Pakistan under president Barrack Obama.
