Op shop sells customer’s $1000 designer handbag by mistake

An op shop has accidentally sold a woman’s $1000 handbag after she left it in a changing room.

Zharkyn Ermekovna was visiting an RSPCA store in London recently and decided to try on a coat, The Sun reports.

Ms Ermekovna said she had her Balenciaga handbag with her.

But within an hour, it was gone. The RSPCA told the paper Ms Ermekovna left it in a change room for “around an hour”, and a customer picked it up and offered to buy it.

The RSPCA is now appealing for whoever bought the bag to return it.

But Ms Ermekovna is less than impressed with the error. She claims she lost items she left in the bag but the RSPCA said it was emptied before it was sold.

“We believe the handbag was emptied before it was brought to the till, and there were no obvious signs that it was a misplaced personal item so was sold in good faith,” they told The Sun.

“You can’t sell something just like that, especially when it’s a designer product,” Ms Ermekovna told the paper, calling it “shocking”.

The upset woman told local news site Ham&High she is also confused as to how the bag sold without a price tag on it.

The mum of two said she forgot her bag in a rush to get back to her kids.

She returned to the store but it was closed. The following day when she came back she found the bag had been sold leaving her "devastated".

Balenciaga handbags worth more than $1000

Balenciaga handbags sell for more than $1000. A number of their hourglass handbags come with a price tag of more than $3000. The one Ms Ermekovna owned was valued at $1,080.

The designer handbag has also been seen carried by celebrities including Naomi Watts, Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow.
