Olympian Harry Garside will appear in court later this month after he was charged with domestic violence after he was arrested at Sydney Airport as he flew home from South Africa.

The 25-year-old had just flown in from Johannesberg where he was runner-up on I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! which wrapped up on Sunday night.

NSW Police arrested the boxer, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, as he made his way to baggage claim with his father Shaun on Tuesday afternoon.

Police on Tuesday confirmed officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command had investigated reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident at Bellevue Hill on March 1.

“Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested at Sydney International Airport about 2.40pm today (Tuesday 2 May 2023),” police said.

“He was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with common assault (DV).”

Garside was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday May 24.

Garside had snapped a picture of he and his father before their flight out of South Africa, and uploaded it to Instagram.

“Had to upgrade my best mate to business with me. His first time flying business,” he wrote on the post.
