How this girl's haircut led to parents being investigated for alleged child abuse
A couple are being investigated for child abuse over their daughter's haircut.
An Ohio mum posted photos to Facebook of her daughter suggesting she had her haircut forcibly by her father and stepmum for having highlights.
The mum, who will not be identified, wrote she had highlights put in her daughter's hair for her birthday.
She then dropped the girl off (at her father's home) but when she picked her up on February 1 she had her hair shaved. She's included photos. The post has since been shared 24,000 times.
Haskins Police Chief Colby Carroll along with children's services are investigating potential child abuse, Fox 8 Cleveland reports.
Chief Carroll said the girl's mum alleges her daughter's hair was cut under the direction of the child's step mum and father. Both of them are firefighters.
Chief Carroll said he's never seen a case "like this".
No charges have been laid, but the step mum and father have been placed on leave from work.

Jeniffer McVeigh, the owner of a local hair salon, said she doesn't understand why the parents of the girl would "want to humiliate their daughter that way".
"What they did to that poor child - there's no framing, there's no texture," she said.
"It's a chopped off, boyish hairstyle on her."
