October long weekend trading hours: Aldi, Coles, Woolworths, Bunnings and more

The October long weekend is almost here and retailers including Aldi, Coles, Woolworths and Bunnings have revealed their trading hours for the public holidays.

Those lucky enough to live in the ACT, New South Wales, South Australia and some parts of Tasmania will have an extra day off thanks to the Labour Day holiday, while Queenslanders have the extra day off for King Charles' Birthday on October 2.

The shorter week will certainly be welcomed, with the holiday falling after a daylight savings change for NSW and the NRL grand final on Sunday 1 October.

While Victoria misses out on the Labour Day holiday, Victorians will still get a long weekend, as Friday 29 September is a public holiday for the following day's AFL grand final.

Western Australia will miss the October long weekend after celebrating the King's Birthday holiday on 25 September this year. Meanwhile, the Northern Territory misses out with no Labour Day holiday.

Coles

ACT, NSW, QLD: All stores open on Labour Day, Monday 2 October.

VIC: All stores open on the grand final public holiday, Friday, 29 September.

SA: Most stores will be closed on Labour Day, Monday, 2 October, with only a few remaining open. These include Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier and Victor Harbor.

Woolworths

ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS: All stores are open on Labour Day, Monday 2 October.

SA: Most stores will be closed on the public holiday, Monday 2 October.

VIC: All stores open on the grand final public holiday, Friday 29 September.

While these are general indicators of what will be open, shoppers are advised to check individual opening hours — which may change from store to store — on the Woolworths website for more specific information.

IGA

Independently owned and operated IGA stores in all states may be open for limited hours between 8am and 4pm on public holidays. Shoppers are advised to check their local store.

Aldi

Aldi shoppers will need to visit the store locator on the Aldi website to confirm their local store's trading hours over the long weekend holiday across all states.

Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor

NSW, ACT, QLD: All Coles-owned alcohol stores will remain open on the Labour Day and King's Birthday public holiday on Monday 2 October.

SA: Only a handful of Liquorland stores will be open on the Labour Day public holiday, Monday 2 October. These include Port Lincoln, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla Westlands, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier and Victor Harbor.

VIC: All Coles-owned stores will remain open on the grand final public holiday, Friday 29 September.

Shoppers are advised to check their local store's website before visiting.

Dan Murphy's:

Generally, all Dan Murphy's and BWS stores will be open as normal across the long weekend public holidays in all states and will operate from either 10am to 6pm or 10am to 7pm. Shoppers can check their own store's hours online.

Bunnings Warehouse:

ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS, SA: All stores are open on Labour Day, Monday 2 October, but will operate at shortened trading hours.

VIC: All stores are open on grand final public holiday, Friday 29 September, but will operate at shortened trading hours.

Shoppers are advised to check their local store before visiting.

Ikea

ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS, SA: All Ikea stores will be open on the Labour Day and King's Birthday public holiday, Monday 2 October, between 9am and 5pm.

VIC: All stores will be open on the grand final public holiday, Friday 29 September, between 9am and 5pm.

Big W

ACT, NSW, TAS, QLD: Big W Stores will be open on Labour Day and King's Birthday public holiday, Monday 2 October.

VIC: All stores will be open on the grand final public holiday, Friday 29 September.

SA: Most stores will be closed on Labour Day, Monday 2 October, with only a small amount confirmed to be operating. These include Victor Harbour, Port Augusta, Renmark, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier.

Kmart

ACT, NSW, QLD: Kmart stores will be open on Labour Day and King's Birthday public holiday on Monday 2 October, but will operate with shortened trading hours.

VIC, TAS, WA: Stores will be open as normal.

SA: Stores will mostly be closed on the Monday public holiday, with some staying open under shortened hours.

Westfield:

ACT: Westfield Belconnen and Woden will trade from 10am-4pm

NSW: Centres will be open at various times on the Labour Day public holiday, Monday 2 October. These include:

• Westfield Kotara will be open from 10am to 4pm.

• Westfield Tuggerah, Eastgardens, Hornsby, Liverpool, Mt Druitt, Penrith and Warringah will be open from 10am to 5pm.

• Westfield Bondi Junction, Burwood, Chatswood, Hurstville, Miranda, and Parramatta will be open from 10am to 6pm.

• Westfield Sydney and Sydney Central Plaza will be open from 10am to 7pm.

SA: All SA centres will be closed.

QLD: Centres will be open at various times on the King's Birthday public holiday, Monday 2 October. These include:

• Westfield North Lakes, Garden City, Carindale and Chermside will be open from 10am to 5pm.

• Westfield Coomera and Helensvale will be open from 10am to 4pm.
