Woman stabbed cousin to death 'over scratch on her new Mercedes'
A Sydney woman who stabbed her cousin to death over a scratch on her new Mercedes has been convicted of manslaughter.
Katherine Abdallah killed her cousin Suzie Sarkis, 21, after she borrowed, and damaged a $184,000 Mercedes by running it into a gutter.
Abdallah claimed she defended herself by stabbing Ms Sarkis in the chest with a kitchen knife, inside her Brighton Le Sands home in 2013.
Security vision inside the home convinced the jury otherwise. It took them five days to come to a decision with Abdullah on bail awaiting a decision on whether she was legally culpable.
Neighbours witnessed a furious argument after the 21-year-old victim drove Abdallah's car without permission at high speed, was stopped by police, ran into a gutter then took a second joyride the following day.
"She's going to be in serious trouble when I get her," Abdallah told police.
"You guys will probably be called back."
Police were called back only the following evening, recognising the victim as the young woman they had pulled over in the Mercedes.

Abdallah was charged with her manslaughter.
The woman’s lawyer Greg Stanton said his client “maintained from the outset that the acted in self-defence” and that Abdallah was “upset”.
"We respect the process by which the jury has determined its verdict, we accept it and we'll move forward to the sentence,” he said.
Sentencing will likely happen next year. Abdullah’s lawyers are considering an appeal.
