Teen victim stabbed in heart at Blacktown shopping centre should survive

The 17-year-old boy stabbed in Sydney's west on Thursday remains in a serious condition but should survive.

The teenager remains in Westmead Hospital and has been listed as critical but stable after being knifed in the chest.

The teen managed to reach a medical centre near the Westpoint Shopping Centre in Blacktown in the moments after the broad-daylight attack.

Paramedics arrived to find the teenager in a critical condition and losing a lot of blood before rushing him to hospital.

Amateur footage from the scene shows a male wielding a knife as he ran past bystanders.

His alleged attacker, 17, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and remanded without bail.
