Tonight their alleged attacker, the woman's former partner, is back walking the streets.

Chilling screams emerged from a Parramatta driveway where a distressed woman was violently pulled from her car.

A witness began filming, then raced across the road.

Bleeding and crying, the victim ran from her attacker, who was armed with a tyre lever.

He then turns his fury onto the man she is with.

The attacker, Robert Andrew Mann, is the victim's estranged husband.

Mann, from Wee Waa in the state's north, then continued to hunt his terrified wife Jaimi-Lee Atkinson, from whom he had recently separated.

In the footage he can be seen standing over her and yelling, "thought you got away from me, didn't ya?"

He was taken into custody and charged over the sickening attack, but despite the serious allegations and video evidence, Mann was released on bail.

"That type of person, they should not be walking free," a witness, Bini, said.

But the court did not agree that he was dangerous enough to be locked up.
