Parramatta gunman stalked detective target before killing police worker

Investigators have closely examined security footage from a 15-year-old's attack on a Parramatta police station.

Their investigation shows Farhad Jabar was at first following a female detective out of the building.

He is seen to walk closely behind her but it appears she was too quick for him as she was power walking.

Moments later he picked Curtis Cheng as his target – a life and death decision.

Another high school student questioned at Parramatta Police Station over social media posts praising the terrorist murder of Mr Cheng has been charged with threatening police.

The teenager's Facebook threats included a call for another attack on Merrylands Police Station.

He attends the same school as the killer where students on Tuesday, many anxious, returned after the holidays.

Handcuffed, his bag emptied on the footpath, the 17-year-old student claimed police arrested him because he filmed them on his mobile phone.

But officers were waiting for him after seeing his posts on Facebook reading: "Serves you right I hope them lil piggies get shot".

He went to Arthur Phillip High School, the same school as gunman Farhad Jabar.

Shortly after the 15 year old's fatal shootout, the older boy re-posted 7 News stories about the killings and added:

"Bahahja f*** you motherf***er Yallah merryland police station is next hope they all burn in hell."

A friend responded, “then Campsie”.

Earlier, the Daily Mail reported that the 17-year-old's family was unaware of his arrest until reporters arrived at their home.

The boys older brother attempted to contact him at school before phoning police, and speaking to him in person.

"We know he has a big mouth but we never knew he did this," the boy's brother told the site.

"We are as clueless as you."

The brother then translated a conversation with his crying mother who said the 17-year-old would be punished when he returned home.

"He's a good boy but he's too much talk. He has a big mouth," she said.

Students speak of 'humble' gunman

Jabar's friends say he was a loner.

“To us he was humble. It didn't expect anything like this to ever happen but it was really shocking" student Kristina
Kishore said.

Police circled the school, just around the corner from Parramatta Police HQ.

“The more police - I guess we feel safer with that,” Joshua Kishore said.

Security video shows the killer arriving at Parramatta Mosque five and a half hours before the shooting... the mosque leader adamant Jabar was not radicalised there.

"What's happened with him, it's after he left the mosque," Neil El-Kadomi from Parramatta Mosque said.

Killer's family silent

Today the Jabar family was still unwilling to speak publicly.

7 News understands the family may have held the funeral today but they're still not making any comment about the terrible events involving Farhad Jabar or his sister, who reportedly left two days earlier to fly to Istanbul and possibly join Islamic State.

The Premier Mike Baird joined the Police Commissioner to honour slain pplice employee Curtis Cheng and to pay tribute to the special constables who stopped Jabar..

Mr Baird gave this undertaking. “Those people who have undertaken any inciting or any encouragement to undertake such a horrendous crime, well, I can assure you we will track them down and they will face the full consequences of the law."

It's believed a British recruiter for Islamic State may have groomed the teenaged gunman.
