Outspoken and potty-mouthed former opposition leader Mark Latham was chucked off radio this morning for branding a host a 'f**kwit'.

The 54-year was dumped by Triple M's Grill Team after he poked fun at co-host and TV star Gus Worland's new show, calling it 'f***ing horrendous'.

"I actually watched Gus's Marathon Man show, flicking through Foxtel one night," he told Triple M's Merrick Watts off air on Tuesday.

"Hooked onto it on the basis it's got to be the worst TV ever...it lived up to expectations. It was f***ing horrendous."

After hearing Latham's scathing review, the panel invited him to share his criticism with Worland on the show this morning.

Not one to hold back, Latham again heaped criticism on the radio star.

"Fair dinkum, it was the worst TV in the history of media," he told the Grill Team.

Latham was mid-chat when the interview was suddenly dumped - plunging listeners into a few seconds of silence.

Moments later, the hosts revealed they had to pull the interview because Latham had dropped an F-bomb.

"He wanted to call the variety show Gus Worland: loveable f**kwit," said co-host Matthew Johns.

Gus Worland did not pull any punches when he responded to the jibe, challenging the former opposition leader to a boxing match.

"Three rounds. I'll take him on for charity," he said.
