NSW Health is warning about a measles outbreak after six more Sydneysiders contracted the disease.

It takes the number of cases in the past week to 10, with many of the people infected while in the Auburn and Bankstown areas.

NSW Health Director Dr Vicky Sheppeard said the cases reinforced the importance of getting vaccinated.

"This brings the total number of cases in NSW, with onset this year, to 19," Dr Sheppeard said.

“A highly effective measles vaccine has been freely available for many years and it is vital for everyone, including adults and children, to have two doses of the measles vaccine during their lifetime.”
