North Yorkshire: Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after calling police on himself
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after calling the police on himself.
North Yorkshire Police said the man, in his 50's, called 999 just before midday on Monday.
The force said he told them he was "drink driving and doesn't know what he is doing" after a heavy weekend in the Knaresborough area of North Yorkshire.
Officers found his vehicle within 15 minutes, and a roadside breathalyser test recorded the driver's breath as having 118 micrograms of alcohol.
The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100ml of breath. The man was arrested and remains in custody.
North Yorkshire Police in a statement said that "it's not every day that a suspected drink driver dobs themselves into the police".
