Entourage star 'held hostage' on British Airways flight

They had tickets to New York, but they landed in Philadelphia. They were trapped on the plane for hours on the tarmac, forced to wait hours more for customs and then had to get on a bus to their final destination. It might not have been the flight from hell — but it was close.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, “dozens of British Airways passengers, including actor Jeremy Piven, were stranded in Philadelphia overnight after their long-haul flight was unable to land in New York.”

The passengers were then kept on the plane for several hours after landing on the tarmac. The airline said that the flight was forced to divert to Philadelphia due to bad weather over JFK Airport in New York.

The passengers were stuck on the plane for hours after it landed at its surprise destination and had to wait a few hours more before they were placed on buses and driven to the Big Apple.

Flight 183 was forced to divert to Pennsylvania as bad weather made it impossible to land at JFK Airport in New York, the airline said.

Piven, a star on the hit television show and upcoming movie “Entourage,” live tweeted the event. He told his 2.5 Twitter followers that he was stuck on a plane and encouraged them to fly Virgin Atlantic, a competitor to British Airways. Piven also tweeted that people on the plane were starting to panic and that they were being held hostage. He deleted those tweets.

Another passenger, Tracy Scherman, said that in economy the plane began to smell. “There was no fresh air, it was cramped, we were all tired, some people had children,” Scherman told ABC6, the news station in Philadelphia.
