Newlywed, 25, dies in New Year's Eve shooting outside Melbourne home

A woman has died and a man has life-threatening injuries after they were shot in Melbourne's inner west on New Year’s Eve.

Emergency services were called to a home in Yarraville about 10.30am (local time) on Tuesday, where they found the woman’s body and the injured man.

The victim has been identified by Nine News as Lindita Musai, 25, who died at the scene.

Her 29-year-old husband, Veton Musai, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The newlyweds were shot on the doorstep of their home, according to the news outlet.

Another man, a 55-year-old from Altona North, has been taken to hospital under police guard with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Police say the three people are known to each other and while police investigations continue, they are not looking for any other offenders.

Ms Musai and her partner were both shot in the upper body outside a residential property, police said.

One neighbour told The Age he heard two gunshots that came from the parkland behind his property.

Ms Musai’s Facebook page shows the couple got married in early 2019.
