New details emerge on tragic death of nurse found outside her home

The sudden death of a Gold Coast nurse, who was found outside her home with critical head injuries, has taken another turn with police ruling out foul play.

Lisa Davey, 37, was found unconscious by a neighbour outside her Arundel home about 6.45pm on Thursday.

She was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit where she was employed.

Mystery has so far surrounded her death, with investigators describing the cause of her serious injuries as “unexplained”.

“Medical advice at this point would suggest that it’s consistent with blunt force trauma. It’s the sort of injury you’d get in a traffic accident, that’s how significant it is,” Detective Inspector Brendan Smith had previously said.

However, with police ruling out foul play, 7 News understands that her injuries are consistent with a fall. Police are now checking her medical records.

Ms Davey’s devastated brother Peter told The Gold Coast Bulletin the family are in shock at how she was taken away from them.

‘She will be missed by so many’

“She just wanted to help people and always put everyone else’s problems before herself,” Mr Davey said.

“She will be missed by so many people and it’s just not fair. I am thankful for all her work colleagues that have supported her and tried to save her. That must have been very hard.”

Detectives are also asking for dashcam vision taken in Callistemon Court and a nearby section of Olsen Road from Thursday evening.
