Human remains have been found in a burnt-out car more than 200km north of Perth, as WA Police try to work out if it’s linked to a bizarre ocean rescue that took place hours later.

The vehicle was found ablaze along Indian Ocean Dr near the coastal town of Jurien Bay about 12.30am Tuesday.

The road was closed southbound as police investigated, and officers later confirming a body had been found in the vehicle.

Later in the morning, another car was found submerged in the ocean off the Cervantes Jetty, about 25km south of Jurien Bay.

A man was spotted acting erratically in a boat nearby, before he jumped in the water and needed to be rescued by a nearby fishing vessel.

He was taken into custody and received medical attention, while the submerged car was recovered.

Police say nothing suspicious was found inside the vehicle.
